Recently I hooked up with my good friend Eddie who I’ve known for a couple of years now to see how her music career is coming along and what she’s been up to recently. Rather than rambling on with a long introduction, I’ll just let you read the interview for yourself!

Ok, to get started could you tell me who you are and what type of music you make?

Hey my name is Eddie and i sing pop/Rock/indie.

How long have you known you wanted to be a musician, and when did you start really taking it seriously?

I have loved singing and performing all my life and i knew this was something i wanted to persue from a very early age. I started taking it seriously though when i was about 13 when i sang on The BBC Saturday Morning Show.

Who did you listen to growing up and which current artist (if any) do you aspire to be like?

I listened to artist’s such as Elvis and country music was always a big influence when i was growing up. Pop music was what i loved though through my teen’s Starting off with the Spice Girl’s dare i say haha! and then as i got older i fell in love with classic singers such as Aretha Frankilin and artists like Pink, Christina Aguilera and Whitney Houston.

Current artists i’m into include Leona Lewis and bands such as the Script.

Now obviously this site is all about becoming a successful musician and selling records, how far along the road to success are you currently and what are your plans for the future?

Well currently i’m working with a producer in London, We are working together on tracks working towards an album. I am also currently getting a band around the project which i’m excited about gigging. The best part about it is i get to record and workon something where i have so much of my own input and can really work towards my vision.

What have you done so far to ‘make it’ and what has been the most, and least successful?

The most recent success i have had is playing Trafalgar Square for The EA (Electronic Arts) gaming weekend. It was a Rockband competition that i entered and we ended up going through to the finals and winning, the prize we won was a trip to New York!! and to play the main stage which was filmed for T4. We were presented our award by presenter Dve Berry and other acts throughout the day included Natasha Bedding field who i got to chat back stage to and bands like the Automatic and Airbourne.

What forms of marketing have you looked into both online and offline to help promote yourself, and what has worked best for you so far?

I guess the most obvious is Myspace, It’s such a great way to get your music out there and heard for free, i love listening to new music and think it’s a great tool for unsigned bands and asrtists. I’m thinking of starting a facebook music page where you can add fans. Websites like Sinflip that really take an interest in artists are great!I have also joined a few other sites which are similar to myspace such as Totally Unsigned and they hold competitions for local bands to win free recording and more.

What have you done about gathering a stable fan base and releasing news and updates to them?

I think because my project is still in the early stages Myspace is the main way i promote myself as iu start doing more gigs i’m sure free cd’s or other marketing tools will be brought in to increase the fanbase!

Who or what has been the most successful influence o your career so far?

I think everytime i hear a new track that i have recorded it really boosts mirale and really makes me want to get my music heard. Meeting Natasha Bedding field and performing on T4 stage opened my eye to so much and gave me a taste of that lifestyle and that alone makes me want to persue it even more! Talking to artists you aspire to about your own music is such a great feeling and really does give you inspiration to go for your dreams.

And finally, what advice would you give to any upcoming musicians who want to make it in the music industry?

I think you have to live music to do it full time, you have to be confident in yourself and your music and have to have such a drive to see it through as there is so much competition out there, you really have to want it more than anything and say goodbye to your weekends as you’ll be spending them gigging!

In Conclusion

I’d like to thank Eddie for agreeing to let me have a chat to her about her career and wish her very much luck in the future - she has undoubtedly one of the best voices I’ve ever heard and I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before she gets there.

You can catch up with her and have a listen for yourself on her myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/eddiemusicuk
